Position Description: Palmetto Corp is seeking a Dump Truck Driver who will transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, coal, and paving materials. This candidate will be responsible for the following while having a strong focus on safety.
Duties/Responsibilities: - Adhere to all Palmetto Corp. Safety guidelines.
- Perform daily DOT Pre/Post Trip Inspections.
- Maintain detailed logs on the substance(s) being hauled and their weight.
- Must handle all paperwork handed to them throughout the day.
- Follow detailed instructions given by Central Dispatch.
- Fasten chains or binders to secure load on trailer during transit.
- Load, unload or assist in loading and unloading of truck.
- Must have the ability to operate the vehicle safely in traffic situations and follow policies and procedures of Palmetto Corp.
- Must be able to lift 20lbs or more
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to work overtime, nights and/or weekends (if needed).
Position Requirements Requirements: - Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License for at minimum 1 year
- Must be able to drive a manual transmission.
- Must meet all DOT requirements for CDL Drivers, including DOT Physical.
- Must be able to climb in and out of body of truck using 3 points of contact at all times.
- Must be able to clean inside of truck body, including getting in the back of the truck with a shovel to clean entire area so other loads won't be contaminated.
- Understand and abide by the SC short haul regulations for Hours of Service of drivers within the 100 air mile radius (
12 hours per day, no more than 70 hours per 7 days, or 80 hours in 8 days. Must have minimum of 8 hours off between shifts. Drivers are allowed a one-time exception each week of up to 16 hours in one day. That day must be logged by a paper log book.) - Days/Nights/Weekends
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must provide a 10 year MVR
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
