Special Agent (1811 Only): Criminal Investigator Professional When you transition from your current federal 1811 role to an FBI special agent, you amplify your expertise while impacting communities nationwide. The FBI’s Advanced Special Agent Training (ASAT) builds on your federal experience, fast‑tracking you to become an FBI special agent in just nine weeks — all while maintaining the rigorous standards the FBI is known for. 1811-ONLY SPECIAL AGENT APPLICATION PROCESS

SALARY LEVEL

Pay level for this position: $99,461.00–$128,329.00 Salary is commensurate with base, locality, and availability pay. Agent trainees receive locality pay for the Washington, D.C. area plus availability pay, which is 25% of the base and locality.

MAJOR DUTIES

Plan and conduct investigations of potential violations of federal laws, cybersecurity, and public safety. Exercise judgment, resourcefulness, and versatility in meeting investigative demands. Create and maintain effective liaison relationships with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international law enforcement agencies. Maintain a level of physical fitness to ensure the readiness required to perform law‑enforcement duties.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance. Must be a current federal law‑enforcement officer (occupational series 1811). Must have at least two (2) years of full‑time, consecutive federal 1811 law‑enforcement work experience. Must pass an FBI pistol qualification on an FBI‑issued firearm prior to attending ASAT. Must meet the FBI’s Employment Eligibility requirements. Must be willing to travel as required.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or higher from a U.S. accredited college or university. All degrees must be verified by submitting college transcripts.
